Catherine Gallagher – Proofreader

I am a trained proofreader with a sharp eye for detail and a friendly and flexible approach. I have a passion for language, reading and writing and know the importance of having a second pair of eyes look over your written creations.

I am a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), passing their advanced proofreading training with distinction after initially training as a proofreader with the Publishing Training Centre and qualifying with merit. I am an approved proofreader for a number of national educational publishers and experienced in the proofreading of GCSE and A Level resources for a number of examination boards.

I have a BA (Hons) in French and Spanish and a background in translation. I am experienced in the translation and proofreading of general commercial documents, student assignments and text related to education, the third sector, the arts, travel and tourism, urban design, English language and literature, and modern foreign languages.

I can mark up your documents in Microsoft Word using the Track Changes function so you have the final say over my suggested amendments; in PDF; in Adobe InCopy; or, on paper using simple notes or the proofreading symbols of the British Standards Institution.
