- Ipswich, UK
I work for academics, students, businesses, authors, and publishers on projects of all sizes. I specialize in working with scientific manuscripts because of my academic background in the chemical, biological and medical sciences, although I can apply my editorial skills to most subjects.
I edit or proofread articles, abstracts, proposals, theses, dissertations, reports, books, and all other types of document to enhance the language of the text and ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency and the appropriate style and format.
In addition, I will check page layouts, graphical material, tables, references, notes and supplementary materials and I can write concise, accurate and informative abstracts and reports if required.
Based in the UK, I am a native English speaker and am experienced at working on texts for authors with English as a second language. For academic documents, I can work in either British or American English.
With a PhD in bioorganic chemistry, an MSc in science communication and an academic research background in organic, biological and medicinal chemistry, I understand the pressures and importance of effective academic communication. I received in-house publishing training with Wiley-VCH and am the former deputy editor of the peer-reviewed academic journal ChemBioChem. I have been a freelance scientific editor and proofreader for 14 years.
