I’m Ellie Law (she/her), a fiction proofreader. I provide proofreading services for independent authors and publishers, specializing in LGBTQ+ fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, and romance.

Since I was a child, I loved seeing characters blossom as they played out their stories. I spent every cent I made playing the violin and oboe at concerts and parties on more books, becoming a regular at the local bookstores, devouring one story after another. Weeks if not months of my life were spent imagining the vast landscapes and expansive cities, wondering what creatures might live in them and how they came to be. All the while keeping a critical eye out for those pesky little errors that rip you out of your fantasy.

I currently live in Germany, where I studied music and English at the University of Regensburg. Shortly before the Corona Pandemic locked down the country, I realized that my personal love for fiction, especially Lesbian romances and those stories featuring strong, confident women, stemmed from my own gender identity. (Now I am openly out as transgender, and along my journey of self-discovery and understanding, I have become a stronger, more sensitive person than I was before.)

I am currently working to visit my dear partner Micah, who has been a rock and a best friend to me for months on end while I was grappling with my identity, and supported me in setting up my business. As this is my way of doing what I love, working with fantastic stories and creative minds, I am determined to dedicate myself to the highest standards, which includes continuous development and growth.
