I offer copy editing, proofreading, and indexing services to authors, publishers, and businesses around the world. I specialize in academic/scholarly books, journals, and papers in the humanities and social sciences, as well as general non-fiction publications. I have been trained through the Publishing Certificate program at Ryerson University, and I am a member of the Editors Association of Canada.
I come from a scholarly publishing background – I worked at the University of Toronto Press for 3 years – so I offer a good working knowledge of the publishing process. I also have specialized knowledge of e-books and e-production.
Description of services:
Copy Editing: At the copy editing stage, I will edit your manuscript for the mechanics of style, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, usage, and style specifications. I will also work with sentence structure and ensure that your meaning is clear. I can edit in British, Canadian, or American English – choose the dictionary of your choice.
Proofreading: At the proofreading stage, I will read and edit your manuscript for minor mechanical errors, such as typos, spelling errors, and deviations from the selected style. If your manuscript is in its final form, I will also check the formatting for any problems.
Indexing: I will produce a back-of-the-book list of subjects, concepts, names, places, and/or other elements of a work. An index can be very specific (names only) or general (subjects, names, places, etc.). I will edit the index before delivery so you have a clean copy for your book.
My interests and hobbies include cooking and baking, tea, nature and animals, hiking, reading (all genres, but especially horror and fantasy), yoga, history, and learning about as much as I can!
