Why choose me?
Trained professional – I have experience in editing a range of academic texts, and I have worked with academics across the world on research papers and journal articles for various publications. I am familiar with a number of referencing styles, and I can work with both British English and US English editorial conventions. My editing experience is supported by accredited and assessed training, completed at The Publishing Training Centre (London), in which I gained a distinction.
Academic background – My subject specialism is Classics, and I hold an MA in Classics (with distinction) from University College London. I also have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from King’s College London, and I previously taught Classics at a leading school in London. Working within a rigorous academic field for a number of years has allowed me to develop a love of language and its mechanics, as well as a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Reliable service – I have extensive experience in working to a deadline. Your document will be returned on time and on budget. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, and I abide by their code of practice for editorial excellence.
Friendly support – I will respect your writing style and authorial voice, and I will provide helpful suggestions and comments to support your corrections and revisions. I also have hands-on experience of teaching students for whom English is a second language. I am, therefore, very familiar with the challenges that non-native speakers can face in their academic written work, and I very much enjoy proofreading and editing such documents.
I am happy to work with texts in most areas of the humanities and social sciences, but my main subjects are: archaeology, art history, Classics (including Greek and Latin languages), education, English literature, history (ancient and modern), law, linguistics, pedagogy and translation studies.

Laura is a very friendly proofreader with high professional qualifications. She made very detailed annotations to my essay and was very respectful of my arguments. She is also very clear about the format and the layout required and would give suggestions about the adjustments. Laura gave me a lot of encouragement which relive my anxiety of my essay.
