I was an executive assistant for many years and recently reskilled and qualified as a proofreader and copy editor. I am thorough, used to working to tight deadlines and determined to do the best I can for my clients. I have studied to gain the knowledge and expertise required to start my new career as a proofreader and copy editor, and now, I am looking for brave people who I can help with their written works and who will give me straight-talking feedback in return.

(For CPD and fun, I am a qualified TEFL teacher, have a certificate in Training Practice through the CIPD, have completed fire fighting and sea and rescue courses and attempted training in drama, ballet, Spanish and tap dancing, none of which made me famous!)

From the start of this project, Lauren has been totally professional in her approach to copy-editing my book. A phone call in the beginning to discuss copyrighting resulted in both of us completing and signing an NDA which, from my point of view, was very welcome. Lauren emailed me on a regular basis to let me know where she was up to and to check I was happy with any changes that she suggested and to discuss anything that needed clarification. She has brought my book to life in many different ways. Characters are more rounded and distinct from each other, and locations have become more colourful and believable. Lauren was particular about the timeline of the story and was able to point out many plot inaccuracies which she promptly corrected. I feel that the biggest and best change that she has made is in the dialogue, which has been tweaked and now moves the story along in a more natural way. And her enthusiasm! I saw the story that I had been working on for a long time become rejuvenated in her capable hands. I would not hesitate to ask Lauren to look over my next manuscript and I recommend her as a first class editor.

Hello, Paul.

Thank you for your testimonial. Shirley Conran taught me a few great tips for authors; I am only too happy to share them with you.

We still have some work to do. I am enjoying working on your book; I feel like I know all the main characters personally.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me.

I’ve had the privilege of Lauren Davies’s (help/assistance) with the editing of my series of children’s books—The Dufflecoat Journals. As a first-time author, I was unaware of what was expected of me and of my books. Lauren took charge of everything, helping me to refine the book at both a structural and sentence level. Her assistance was invaluable, even extending to the design of my author website, where she would often liaise with the web designer.

She was utterly professional, warm and encouraging; her time management was excellent and she was always ready to offer advice and reassurance as needed. I found her honesty to be refreshing and often much needed, and I would gladly use her again in any future projects!

Hello Jeenie,

My goodness, what a lovely testimonial. I did those for you years ago when I was working with Shirley Conran. It was a fun project.

I am so sad you did not pursue your children’s story writing. They were lovely books.

If you ever decide to write again, please get in touch with me.

Take care, Lauren

I recently used Lauren to proofread / edit a document. The experience working with her far exceeded my expectations. Her edits changed a flat piece of work that needed to be shortened into an expressive and cohesive text without loosing the original message. Her turn around time was really quick. I have no hesitation in recommending Lauren for any proofreading or editing and would certainly use her again in the future.

Dear Mrs Swart

Thank you for your kind words.

Your daughter’s University submission was well written. I hardly did anything. Take care, Lauren.

Lauren is a gem. Her insight, passion, focus, dedication and delivery are beyond comparison.
Lauren recently helped me rework courses I now need to present electronically versus traditional face to face delivery. A substantial difference, and this input from Lauren was invaluable.
Previously Lauren edited my contribution to a collaborative book (Scrappy women), and also edited manuscripts for IT and PM courses I present, making these manuscripts user friendly and understandable to people less familiar with the topics.
And Lauren, I love your cracker sense of humour, thank you, your input has been invaluable.

Hello, Eldette

Thank you, I so appreciate your kind comments.

What is life if we cannot find a smile amid all the other bits and bobs?

As always, I look forward to working on session two of your course next week.

Take care, Lauren

p.s. I see there is another review. Did you push the button twice:) Thank you.

I have used Lauren multiple times. Her insight, passion, focus and dedication – remarkable. I am always impressed and grateful for her feedback.
Most recently Lauren worked with me to finalise and polish courses I am presenting through electronic media, versus the age old F2F audience delivery. This is a difficult transition, as client and audience delivery plus engagement, changes substantially.
Previously Lauren edited my participation in a collaborative book initiative, a 2nd example includes editing printed manuscripts I provide to trainees on specialised IT consulting topics (making them understandable to those less informed).
Thank you for your involvement Lauren, I am always thrilled and grateful for you assistance.
