Hello! I’m a trained Proofreader and chartered librarian with an English degree. I have an excellent eye for detail and a passion for making writing the best it can be. I am an Associate Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders and have completed two of their proofreading courses so far.
So, what am I like to work with? The most common phrases that pop up in my feedback are “eagle-eyed”, “helpful”, “sympathetic”, “tactful”, and “flexible”. I appreciate that the two major factors when choosing a proofreader are quality of work and the cost of the service. I charge per 1,000 words so that you know exactly where you are with cost before you even say yes, and I will strive to provide the highest level of service including communication, specialist advice, notes on any decisions made during the process and a timely return of your work.
So far, I have had the pleasure of working on:
Academic essays (specialisms in English, Humanities and Social Sciences)
Fiction of all kinds (specialism in books for young people and children)
Non-fiction, including textbooks and teaching guides
Writing on the topic of libraries
Media and technology articles
Mental health reports
Film and music articles
Meg proofread my children’s novel for me. She found the mistakes I had missed, even though I had reviewed the book several times and have a degree in English. She made suggestions for changes and I was able to discuss certain points with her, which was important to me. I really enjoyed working with her and would love to work with her again some day.
Thank you, Meg!
