Concise, expressive English is important for so many media – books, websites, tourist guides, academic essays, advertisements. I am an experienced writer, editor and proofreader and can help you achieve this.
Recent work includes
– proofreading and editing academic essays and book chapters
– editing fiction (a short story collection) and non-fiction (memoir)
– translating and editing Spanish text for a legal website
– project managing the writing and editing of labels for a UK museum.
I’m a trained intermediate member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, and have taken their courses ‘Copy-Editing: Headway’ and ‘Editing with Word’. I’m also a member of the Higher Education Academy and have a Certificate and Diploma in English Language Teaching (International House, London).
I taught English as a Foreign Language for 18 years in Italy, Greece and the UK. Ten years of this was teaching English Language and/or Creative Writing at the University of the Arts, London, Westminster University and the University of Hertfordshire.
I also have a background in museums and heritage and work for four years at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and for another four at the Museum of English Rural Life, Reading.
In addition, I translate from Spanish to English.
I pride myself on work which is appealing, accurate, fits the brief and meets the deadline. Please get in touch for a quote or a no-obligation chat about your project.
