I provide copyediting, proofreading, proof-editing and developmental editing services to social science and humanities scholars, independent writers, charities/NGOs and publishers.
As a professionally trained editor, published author and advocate for inclusive and accessible language, I can help you make a difference through your writing. I will support you to communicate your ideas and research with clarity, sensitivity and purpose.
Prior to working as a freelance editor, I was a sociology lecturer. I have published my own peer reviewed articles as well as a monograph, Innocent Subjects: Feminism and Whiteness (Pluto Press, 2020).
I have academic subject expertise in sociology, gender studies, media and cultural studies, with a particular interest in social justice and social movements.
Other interests include fiction and creative writing, literary criticism, climate, migration, mental health, wellbeing and self-help literature. I read widely (fiction and non-fiction) and enjoy working with authors of different types of writing in a range of subject areas.
Alongside academic literature, I have experience of writing and editing material aimed at a variety of audiences, including policy and research reports, campaigning toolkits, training documents and blog posts.
I am an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and I am Publishing Qualifications Board-certified proofreader, having passed the Publishing Training Centre’s Essential Proofreading course (with Merit).
