If I proofread your work, I’ll check that your spelling, grammar and punctuation meet British English requirements, scrutinise your consistency and style, and your logic and layout.
You’ll avoid the pitfalls of proofreading your own writing – seeing what you’re sure you wrote, not what’s actually there.
And you’ll dodge the snares of the spellchecker which will ignore words that are real words but not the word you meant.
Before providing a quote, I will need the following information:
• Do you have a schedule, together with a word count? Both of which is important for me to evaluate the cost.
• What service you want: if you are unsure, we can discuss this.
• Three types of proofreading, light read, medium read and heavy read, which is yours?, I can advise you after seeing a sample of your work.
My service is based on the fixed rate of 1000 words, I find this is preferable for most clients. All fees to be paid in GBP and are to be paid by bank transfer to my UK bank account.
If you’d rather not send a sample until I’ve confirmed availability, then please send details of the work (is it a book, fiction or non-fiction, a thesis, annual report, web material, etc.?). • I’m an experienced editorial freelancer.
I am used to working with clients and responding to their individual needs. I don’t outsource and can guarantee that I will personally undertake all work submitted.
I am qualified with a Diploma in ‘’Proofreading and Editing’ (Distinction) a member of the ‘Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment’ (IEMA) I have been editing and proofreading for many years, documents for London Underground, Bloomberg news and various editorials, even ghosting for a women’s ‘Agony Aunt’ column for a newspaper.
I have written 6 books, therefore I am aware of pitfalls and genuine mistakes that can be easily overlooked.
