CRAFTING VOICE & STORIES
Stories are a lens for our experience, allowing us to imagine other ways of being and seeing. They tell us who we are. My job, as editor, is to make sure nothing gets in the way of that.
I’m a passionate editor. I edit fiction, nonfiction, and academic writing. I help writers produce the stories that shape how we see each other. To some, I’m a writing coach; to others, I’m a proofreader. What I do for each is ensure their writing is as impactful as possible.
I have a Master’s degree in Creative Writing and English Literature. I started Windswept Editing in 2016, editing fiction, nonfiction, and academic writing. I also teach writing and literature at Brandon University in Manitoba, Canada.
I provide all levels of editing—developmental, copy, and proofreading. I also offer affordable prices and a free 4-page editing sample of your work. I have a meticulous eye for detail and an exceptional sense of style and voice you won’t find with other editors.
FICTION & NONFICTION
Whether editing at the level of the sentence or assisting at the level of story, I ensure clarity, respecting your style and voice, while consolidating them. Most importantly, I make sure your story is powerfully told.
My own novel, “The Borders,” almost ready for publication, has already won a number of awards. It’s been described as having “an assured, distinctive voice” in a style “at once spare and poetic, stripped down and lyrical” with “complex and very compelling” characters and a story offering “a powerful challenge to traditional settler narratives” and a “bold re-envisioning of Canadian and Prairie history.” You can read a sample here.
I will bring this attention to style and narrative to your story.
I edit thesis and dissertation manuscripts, as well as articles for publication. I work in Chicago, APA, and MLA styles. I’ve edited widely, in fields ranging from mathematics to English. You can read a sample of my academic writing and my CV here.
I’m new to Find A Proofreader and looking to build my portfolio here, so I’m offering lower rates. If you would like to work with an editor who knows how to craft voice and story, message me—I would love to collaborate!

I look forward to working with you!
“Sasha at Windswept Editing worked on my debut novel, taking my rambling words and turning them into a structured and sound piece of work. Her attention to detail at every stage of development, and especially for character motivation, have been insightful and produced emotional attachment for my characters in my readers. Sasha comes from a different writing genre than my own (horror/post-apocolytic). I believe this has added even more value to the process and provided a perception I was needing. I definitely will be keeping her for the remainder of my series and recommend her talents to others striving to add levels of professionalism with prompt and kind service.”
— Marlaina McClure, fiction
“Sasha has been exceptional in her copy editing and story editing of my writing. She has been so enjoyable to work with. Taking what was written and only making it better, she preserved my voice while being very gifted in firming up what was written. She was very punctual and communicated well through the whole process. A very gifted professional. Sasha’s edits took my writing to a level of effortless readability. I have tried many editors in the past and Sasha’s work is undoubtedly the best I have found.”
— Cathie Gingerich, memoir
“Sasha is an efficient, professional, and compassionate editor. Her immediate response to my every call for help, her perfect understanding of the academic writing process, as well as her ability to empathize and readiness to offer suggestions of more than just a grammatical and syntactical nature, make her more than just than an editor for me. She is my writing companion and sometimes my writing mentor. Without her, my academic life would have been quite different. Thank you, Sasha, for your help!”
— Rubia Akram, academic
