I’m a native English speaker, with a BA(Hons) in English Literature from the University of Warwick (First class) and a MA in Writing, Nature and Place from the University of Exeter (Distinction). I’ve undertaken and passed core proofreading training with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP). I’m also an Intermediate member of the CIEP, and am signed up to their code of conduct.

I’m experienced in proofreading academic work, including PhD theses on topics as various as Nuclear Fusion and Folksong. I specialise in the Arts subjects, mainly writing (fiction, nature/travel writing, memoir), as well as music and critical theory. I also proof a lot of academic papers in the social sciences (particularly concerning China studies).

I’ve spent a decade working in quality-related roles in the Education sector (including an examining body and a UK University), so I understand the importance of academic integrity and fine detail. It’s also meant that I’ve amassed experience in proofreading professional documentation, policies, procedures, regulations as well as a huge array of training and quality assurance materials.

I’m based in Cornwall, where alongside proofreading I look after three small children. (I know a lot about dinosaurs and Paw Patrol.)
