Prooficient Proofreading is run by Grant Boreham.
My aim is to provide prospective clients with the best solutions for their needs, coupled with a focussed, personal service.
Currently, my clients include indie publishers, typesetters, businesses and individuals.
I proofread blind or against copy, in UK or US (CmoS) English.
My work includes both academic non-fiction and fiction. I also proofread company reports and specifications e.g. for software configurations & upgrades.
Furthermore, I can work on paper or via digital mark-up of PDF and Word documents. (I also have knowledge of the traditional BSI proofreading marks.)
I am a member of the SfEP. My training was with the Publishing Training Company.
Additionally, I’ve extensive work experience gained in the City of London. I worked as an FX trader for two International banks, thereby requiring the skills to work quickly and accurately under pressure. Latterly in my City career, I worked as a Business/Quality Assurance Analyst for a software company that provides front-to-back processing solutions. This role necessitated understanding the business and technical requirements of clients (and prospective/pipeline clients) – to be able to listen and understand the client’s needs, and to accurately document these requirements. Furthermore, I was involved in the QA testing of patches, bug-fixes and new software builds, which required an attention to detail and an ‘eagle-eye’ to spot potential defects and make improvements before release and roll-out to the client.
Why not get in touch to discuss your project? I’m friendly and approachable.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Grant’s proofreading service.
He has always understood my brief and asked pertinent questions at the outset.
I clearly understand his mark-up of my manuscripts/documents.
His rates (per 1000 words) are highly competitive.
I have worked with Grant on in excess of 30 projects.
He is a very experienced in the business world, and as such has a professional hands-on, no nonsense, approach to his work.
I like the fact that he is well-read, and that he raises any queries promptly…not at that final hurdle.
His on-screen mark-up is clear and concise.
